Separated at Birth ?

On the left is Jill May, who used to hang out on the corner of Jones and O'Farrell. She ended up getting doused by gasoline and set on fire over some money owed (link to article). On the right is Iggy Pop.

At last nights Stooges show at the Warfield, I was struck by the exceeding similarity of Iggy's prancing and how May used to look on the corner when she was, well, feelin' mighty fine. I could've sat for 90 minutes and watched May prance, but I was usually on my way to work, and that wasn't the safest corner to hang out (what with the drug-related shootings and all).

I hear that in her day, May had some mighty fine talents. Iggy still does (link to photo credit). I suppose you could say punk saved Iggy from a similar fate to May's. But you never know, it ain't all over yet. I hope Iggy doesn't owe anybody money.
