Shootings ?

A week later, and the corner where people were shot is still thick with people smoking crack in broad daylight, and even thicker at night. Intimidating punks who wannabe big time dealers cruise for their next deal.

Why ? Because no one cares about assholes shooting each other. Because to the immigrants who live here, it's better than the rat-hole Third World place they escaped, and no one cares about them either... Because somewhere in the police department, an officer is getting his cut of the thriving drug business, and there would be riots on the streets if the flow were cut off. Because in spite of the veneer that exists outside of the Tenderloin, the United States operates the same way every other country does; much of it off the books.

Shootings

Only one thing worse than half-dead crackheads roamin' the streets, and that's people shooting each other over who's going to take money from the half-dead crackheads.

Two Dead After Shootings In S.F.'s Tenderloin (BCN) SAN FRANCISCO Two men are dead and another victim is being treated Thursday morning following two separate shootings in San Francisco's Tenderloin District, according to Officer Maria Oropeza.
The first incident occurred around 2:10 a.m. when residents near the intersection of Turk and Taylor streets called police reporting shots fired.
Officers arrived to find a black man in his 20s on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead on the scene, Oropeza said.
Only minutes later at 2:14 a.m. shots were reported near O'Farrell and Larkin streets. Two victims, one Hispanic man and an Asian man in his 30s, were found at the scene and transported to San Francisco General Hospital.
The Asian man, however, did not survive the shooting. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, Oropeza said.
Police are searching for at least one suspect in the second shooting but no descriptions have been released.

Counterproductive

ugh. I don't think these affordable houzin' people who are stalling projects realize that these delays just cause the cost of building and property to shoot up all that much higher ! When you're stoned, there is no concept of "time is money! "

Bonds... Black ?

So the headline of an editorial in SF Chronicle says Barry Bonds got picked on regarding steroids because he's black. Uh, maybe because he's known for being an arrogant jerk, and is breaking records ?

O.K., they make the point that white Mark McGwire didn't get picked on... Actually, I don't follow sports, I've only heard second-hand about Bonds being an arrogant jerk, and have no idea whether McGwire was a "nice guy" and thus avoided getting hammered for steroids.

But it did make me think. There are two white guys known for taking steroids and being arrogant jerks... AND THEY BOTH BECAME GOVERNORS ??!!! Well, there you have it.

Your neighbors...

You know, for most of my life, I've been against the death penalty, but based on the examples below, I'm beginning to re-think this. I know, if we wait long enough these people will all either kill themselves or be killed by their neighbors, but they'll do alot of damage in the meantime. Anybody got any suggestions ? Is the entire country being ravaged by idiots ?

A San Francisco man has been convicted of murder and mayhem for using a meat cleaver to castrate and kill his father, whom he blamed for coddling him and fostering his drug addiction, authorities said Tuesday.
"The defendant's mother, who is on disability, testified that she too indulged her son. She said that while she shopped and went job hunting with him, she also used methamphetamine with him and took him to solicit transvestite prostitutes." (geez, I appreciate my parents a little more now)
