Lemurians

On our recent trip to Mt. Shasta, Nat and I became acquainted with the Lemurians, a race of people from the ancient sunk continent of Lemuria. Seems I had heard of Lemuria, but knew nothing about it.

According to Wikipedia, Lemuria actually arose from the scientific question regarding the fossils of lemurs -- why did they exist in some places and not others ? Well, obviously, these lands were previously connected. From there, Lemuria sprang forth into mythology. According to Wiki, their continent was sunk by the gods, because they practiced bestiality, unlike their more intellectual counterparts who inhabited Atlantis. I haven't been inspired to find out why Atlantis also sunk. I have been inspired to spend more time wandering the slopes of Mt. Shasta, perhaps wearing a Sasquatch suit (although that could get me shot by a hunter!)

bible belt

It's not always the obvious things, sometimes it's the subtle things that wouldn't even be noticed if you're someone who's comfortable wearing the bible belt. For example, this quote from an advertising supplement in the Indianapolis Star:

Rockville also offers essential services for travelers, such as ATMs, a post office, churches and car repair shops.

I wonder if those items are listed in order of priority? Rest assured, if your car breaks down off the beaten path in Indiana, you will be able to find an ATM to pay for repairs, and a church to pray that the mechanic won't rip you off!
